Employment Trends in Alberta’s Largest Municipalities

Highlights:

Alberta’s largest 10 municipalities on an employment basis accounted for 69.2% of total Alberta employment in 2011 according to recently released estimates from the National Household Survey. Employment in those 10 municipalities grew by an estimated 8.8% between 2006 and 2011 and the largest industry was retail trade, followed by healthcare and social assistance, professional, scientific and technical services and construction.
