Thread fashion event returns to Union Market April 4-6

After a successful first outing at Union Market in the winter, the shopping event Thread is returning to the Northeast D.C. market April 4-6 with a new batch of retailers that have less to do with fashion than with embracing a fully sartorial lifestyle.

Scheduled to set up at Union Market's dedicated Dock 5 space is L.A.-by-way-of-D.C. label Durkl, Atlanta prep stars Sid and Ann Mashburn (whose wares seem made for the average Russell or Hart building office dweller), Emerson Fry and Maggy Frances.

But there's also a  showroom and a gallery for Brook Bronner, an artist; Third + Grace, a custom chair upholstery shop; Culture Baby, an online shop with globally inspired products for children; Harry’s, which sells shave kits with a vintage bent; and Politics and Prose, which will sell books selected to fit the fashion-forward theme. They join a handful of retailers who are returning this go-round, including leather-goods makers Moore and Giles; skincare seller Follain; Saint Clair Jewelry; menswear retailer Mutiny; Scarpa; and Anthom.

Thread at Dock 5, 1-7 p.m. April 4; 11 a.m.-7 p.m. April 5; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. April 6, 1309 Fifth St. NE. www.unionmarketdc.com/thread.
