Redskins, Ryan Clark have yet to reach agreement

The Washington Redskins hosted free agent safety Ryan Clark on Thursday and continued negotiations with his representative Thursday evening and part of Friday, but have yet to reach an agreement on a deal. The safety continues to field interest from other teams, his agent, Joel Turner, said.

Clark appeared to express frustration about the lack of a deal on Friday when he tweeted: “Redskins fans only following me if I’m going to be a Redskin can unfollow me for now! Still treating me the way they always have. Never know.”

But Turner said that the tweet shouldn’t be perceived as a sign that Clark and the Redskins broke off negotiations.

“We’re still in the process,” Turner said.

Turner said other teams have expressed interest in Clark, but Turner declined to name them. However, the Minnesota Vikings reportedly have inquired about the 34-year-old safety.

The Redskins hosted Houston tight end Owen Daniels on Friday, but he left without having agreed to a deal. It’s unclear where negotiations stand. The team had yet to agree to terms with Dallas linebacker Anthony Spencer, who visited the Redskins Thursday and part of Friday. Cornerback Walter Thurmond had been scheduled to visit on Friday, but wound up not meeting with the team.

Meanwhile, the Redskins announced that they have signed punter/kicker Jake Rogers, who kicked in college for Cincinnati, and spent time with the Bucs, Cowboys, Saints and Giants, but has not kicked in an NFL game.

Washington still has kicker Kai Forbath under contract, and has punter Robert Malone on the offseason roster as well.
