The Golf Digest Green Star Awards
In 2009, Golf Digest instituted the Green Star Awards to recognize golf facilities that demonstrate the best in sustainable, efficient and innovative environmental practices. Initially, the Green Star Awards focused on American golf resorts. In 2013, Golf Digest expanded the awards to consider public and daily-fee courses. In 2014, the awards will be expanded again to include private courses within the United States.
The Details Guild is dedicated to the support, development and promotion of the creative arts and their connection with the greater community through public installations, art education and mentoring programs. Details enlists leading artists to create original, limited-edition artworks to be sold to benefit a charity partner. Participating artists have included Kenny Scharf, Dan Colen, Mario Ybarra Jr. & Karla Diaz, Gardar Eide Einarsson, Nate Lowman, Slater Bradley and Blek le Rat.
16-year-old Malala Yousafzai, champion of education as a tool of empowerment for girls, is one of Glamour’s Women of the Year. Her Malala Fund, which helps programs that directly impact the quality and accessibility of education for girls around the world, will be the recipient of money raised this year by the Women of the Year Fund.
Established in 2007 to commemorate GQ’s 50th Anniversary, The Gentlemen's Fund® raises awareness for the issues that are essential to modern men. GQ encourages men to become agents of change by supporting charities that champion these causes. Since 2007, The Gentlemen’s Fund has raised over $3.5 million for nearly 40 charities.
Self, co-founder of the Pink Ribbon, reminds everyone to #LivePink. For National Breast Cancer Awareness month, Self partnered with Bing for a joint survey in Self’s newly updated Women’s Cancer Handbook. The results found that 71% of young women are concerned about their risk for cancer, and 36% aren't sure what steps to take to help prevent cancer. In response, Self reveals the most useful new research and best prevention tips from top medical experts. The result? A healthy perspective on your real level of risk.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America and Teen Vogue, in partnership with Target, have joined forces to create the CFDA/Teen Vogue Scholarship Program, designed to support emerging talent in fashion design. The top winner is awarded $25,000 and the title Target Fashion Scholar.
Brides Live Wedding, Brides' first ever live-streamed, crowd-sourced wedding brought nearly a billion people together to support a worthy cause through the power of Brides social media. For every "like" the program received on Facebook, a donation was made to the charity of the featured couples choice—the American Cancer Society.
