Australian PM ‘confident’ signals are from black box

Towing an underwater microphone "fish" and hoping to deploy a deep-sea robotic surveyor, the Australian ship Ocean Shield concentrates its search for Flight 370 in a 30,000-square-mile search area about 1,400 miles northwest of Perth in the Southern Indian Ocean. With the batteries on the missing aircraft’s black boxes expetced to die at any moment it has become a race against time to extract as much information as possible from them in order to narrow the search.

Tony Abbott says audio signals have helped reduce the search area but warned they are starting to fade.
