CAIRO, April 14 (Aswat Masriya) Potential presidential candidate Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has said that there is no room at all for authoritarian or nondemocratic rule in Egypt's future.
Sisi added in a statement late on Sunday that, Egypt will not march backwards, pointing out that no one can control the fate of the Egyptian people, who revolted twice in the past three years, against their will.
He insisted that regardless of the challenges, he will not allow for Egypt to go back to what it was before the January 25 uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak in 2011.
Sisi resigned from his post as top army chief last month in order to run for elections.
Egypt will vote for a new president on May 26 and May 27.
