4/26/2014 Jason Grilli, P (Pit) The Pirates attempted to put closer Jason Grilli on the 15-day disabled list but were unable to complete the move before their game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday.

Analysis: Grilli has a strained muscle on his left side, and Pittsburgh wanted to replace him on the roster by promoting right-hander Jared Hughes from Triple-A Indianapolis. However, because Hughes was on the active roster Thursday, the Pirates could not backdate Grilli's stint on the DL and the transaction was not finalized.

4/25/2014 Bryce Harper, LF (Was) Harper was removed after four innings of Washington's game against the San Diego Padres on Friday.

Analysis: After sliding in head first on his bases-loaded triple in the third, Harper could be seen flexing his left wrist. Nate McLouth replaced him to start the fifth inning. The Nationals led 6-0. Harper had an RBI-single in the first and drove in a career-high four runs.
4/25/2014 Devin Mesoraco, C (Cin) Mesoraco left Friday night's game against the Braves with a leg injury.

Analysis: Mesoraco singled in the seventh and moved to second on a wild pitch. He took off from second base on Billy Hamilton's double and fell to the ground with a strained left hamstring after rounding third base. He struggled back to his feet and limped across the plate before slowly leaving the field.
4/25/2014 Todd Frazier, 3B (Cin) Frazier left Friday night's game against the Braves with a leg injury.

Analysis: The Reds said Frazier was pulled from the game due to tightness in his left leg in the fifth inning. He may have injured his leg sliding into second base on a double in the second inning.
4/25/2014 Chris Davis, 1B (Bal) Davis left Friday night's game against Kansas City with a strained left oblique.

Analysis: The severity of the injury was not immediately determined. Davis led the majors with 53 homers and 138 RBIs last season. He has two home runs this year.
4/25/2014 Hector Noesi, P (CWS) The Chicago White Sox claimed Noesi off waivers from the Texas Rangers on Friday.

Analysis: The White Sox expect to have Noesi in Chicago to throw a bullpen session for pitching coach Don Cooper before Saturday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Noesi allowed 10 runs in 6 1-3 innings for the Rangers in five relief appearances. He started the season with the Seattle Mariners and was traded to the Rangers on April 12 for cash considerations.
4/25/2014 Ernesto Frieri, P (LAA) Frieri has lost his job as Los Angeles Angels closer - at least for a while.

Analysis: Angels manager Mike Scioscia says setup man Joe Smith will step into the stopper role until Frieri works out his problems beginning Friday night when the Angels play the New York Yankees. Frieri is 0-2 with a 9.35 ERA in 10 appearances this year. He's allowed five home runs.
4/25/2014 Brock Holt, 3B (Bos) Holt was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket with Will Middlebrooks being activated from the disabled list prior to Friday night's game in Toronto.

Analysis: Holt appeared in seven games for the Red Sox, batting .348 with no homers and four RBIs.
4/25/2014 Jose Cisnero, P (Hou) Houston recalled Cisnero from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take the place of injured reliever Matt Albers.

Analysis: He has a 2.45 ERA in six appearances for the RedHawks this year.
4/25/2014 Matt Albers, P (Hou) Albers has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 22, because of tendinitis in his right shoulder.

Analysis: Albers has a 0.90 ERA in eight appearances this season. He says: "It's just a little discomfort right now, a little inflammation, so hopefully it's a few week thing. Hopefully it's something I can deal with early enough that I don't have to miss a significant amount of time."
4/25/2014 Seth Smith, LF (SD) Smith left Thursday's game against Washington with a groin injury.

Analysis: Smith says he's day to day.
4/25/2014 Kevin Quackenbush, P (SD) The Padres promoted Quackenbush from Triple-A El Paso prior to Friday night's game versus Washington.

Analysis: Quackenbush had four saves and a 1.80 ERA in nine appearances in Triple-A.
4/25/2014 Jace Peterson, SS (SD) San Diego called up Peterson from Double-A San Antonio prior to Friday's game at Washington.

Analysis: Peterson was hitting .311 with three doubles, a home run and seven RBIs in 18 games.
4/25/2014 Alfredo Simon, P (Cin) The Cincinnati Reds are not talking about the lawsuit filed by a woman who says she was sexually assaulted by Simon. When asked on Friday how he is proceeding with Simon, Reds manager Bryan Price said "we'll probably just keep all that stuff to ourselves." Price said the matter is "our family business."

Analysis: The woman, identified as Jane Doe, filed the $15 million civil lawsuit Thursday in D.C. Superior Court. She claims Simon sexually assaulted her in a Washington hotel a year ago when the Reds were in town to play the Nationals. Simon (3-1) is not scheduled to pitch in the Reds' three-game weekend series against the Atlanta Braves.
4/25/2014 Kevin Kouzmanoff, 3B (Tex) The Texas Rangers have activated third baseman Adrian Beltre from the 15-day disabled list and shut down Kouzmanoff with a sore back. Texas made the roster moves on Friday before opening a three-game series in Seattle. Kouzmanoff has a herniated disc in his lower back and is on the 15-day DL retroactive to April 23.

Analysis: Kouzmanoff left Tuesday's game in Oakland with back tightness. He was the American League player of the week April 14-20 and was hitting .362 with two homers, six doubles and 10 RBIs in 13 games since his contract was purchased from Triple-A Round Rock.
4/25/2014 Derek Jeter, SS (NYY) Jeter went 2 for 5 with two RBIs Thursday at Boston.

Analysis: Jeter once again tormented the Red Sox, raising his OPS to a respectable .707 for the retiring legend. One negative was his second error of the year.
4/25/2014 Jacoby Ellsbury, CF (NYY) Ellsbury had more fun at Fenway on Thursday.

Analysis: Ellsbury went 3 for 6 with three RBIs as he took advantage of terrible Red Sox pitching that he used to see from the other dugout. He was 5 for 16 with a jack in the Beantown series.

Analysis: Roberts went 2 for 5 with four runs scored and one steal as he took advantage of terrible Red Sox pitching.
4/25/2014 Yangervis Solarte, SS (NYY) Solarte rocked the fantasy world Thursday.

Analysis: Solarte went 2 for 5 with two runs scored and four RBIs as he took advantage of terrible Red Sox pitching. The No. 9 hitter is batting .310.
