The Nationals will kick off their 10-game road swing tonight in San Diego, in a game that won’t start until 10:10 p.m. back on the East Coast. With the Nationals having won five of six games, Jayson Werth will get the day off. Werth has appeared in all 58 Nationals games this season, but Matt Williams, like he did for Ian Desmond yesterday, is giving him rest today. Ryan Zimmerman will bat third and Nate McLouth takes his place in right field.

The Padres placed second baseman Jedd Gyrko on the disabled list, leaving them with rookie Jace Peterson at the position.
