Supporting our mission statement
We have three core academic functions:
- research and innovation
- teaching and learning, and the student experience
- engagement
Strategic leadership of each of these areas is provided, on a university-wide basis, by a pro-vice-chancellor.
Delivery occurs in our three core academic structures, each also led and managed by a pro-vice-chancellor:
- Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
- Faculty of Medical Sciences [Newcastle Biomedicine]
- Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering
Each faculty consists of a number of academic units, typically a school or a research institute.
This is the academic map of the University, in which we envisage the faculties as vertical columns, with the core functions as cross-cutting institutional activities.
