SYMPOSIUM DESCRIPTION:

The Women’s International Study Center (WISC) is pleased to host its inaugural Symposium, Risk & Reinvention: How Women Are Changing the World, on August 15-16, 2014 at the new Drury Plaza Hotel, Santa Fe, NM.

More than three hundred women and men will gather at this Symposium to explore women’s accomplishments, challenges and opportunities across disciplines, ethnicities and generations. Beginning with a conversation with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, more than 30 experts in scholarship, science, technology, engineering, art, law, cultural preservation, business and labor force analysis will engage in panel discussions to share their expertise, perspectives and experiences. The Symposium seeks to inspire participants to create a future that realizes the full potential of women and honors their contributions to our world.

REGISTRATION: WISC encourages the participation of women and men across disciplines, generations and backgrounds to add to the richness and diversity of these discussions. WISC has established a special outreach program to support young adult participants and recommends several ways to get involved:

  • SOLD OUT - STANDARD REGISTRATION: Individuals ages 30 and over may register at the standard rate of $150 for the 2-day Symposium.
  • SOLD OUT - YOUNG ADULT DISCOUNT: Individuals ages 29 and under are provided a discounted registration rate of $100 for the 2-day Symposium. (Note: The format and content of the Symposium is designed for college-age individuals and up.)
  • SOLD OUT - YOUNG ADULT SPONSORSHIP: Individuals who have the financial means to sponsor a young adult attendee (ages 18-29) are encouraged to do so. WISC will have a waiting list for young adult attendees seeking sponsorship. You may sponsor a young adult attendee ($100) whether you plan to attend the Symposium at the standard $150 registration rate ($250 total at checkout), or whether you are unable to attend ($100 for the young adult registration only at checkout).
  • SOLD OUT - NM COLLEGE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS: Full-time college and university students (enrolled in the equivalent of 12 or more semester credit hours at the undergraduate level, or 9 or more semester credit hours at the graduate or professional level, in Spring or Fall Semester 2014) who are studying in or are from New Mexico are encouraged to apply for a registration scholarship to attend the 2014 Symposium. The WISC Board of Directors will review applications and award up to 20 college student registration scholarships to the 2014 Symposium. See application details HERE
  • IMPORTANT: APPLICANTS FOR THE YOUNG ADULT SPONSORSHIPS AND NM COLLEGE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS: Please provide your contact information and select the type of registration for which you are applying. Your registration is not considered "final" until you receive confirmation from WISC indicating that you have been selected for a sponsorship or scholarship. A limited number of sponsorships and scholarships are available; please apply early.
