A leading cocoa producer and exporter of low-cost power, Côte d’Ivoire is one of the most ethnically diverse and mineral-rich countries in West Africa. The country is a member of ECOWAS and the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa, as well as party to several international trade agreements. Agriculture, manufacturing and services are key contributors to GDP and important sources of employment, though the mining of vast mineral reserves and ongoing energy diversification are likely to play a significant role in the transformation the economy over the next few years.
