The Egyptian Social Democratic Party is a left liberal party, which was founded in the wake of the 25th of January revolution. Two small liberal parties; the Egyptian Democratic Party and the Liberal Egyptian Party, merged together to form the Egyptian Social Democratic Party on March 29th, 2011.

 

The party is a member of the Egyptian Bloc running in the Parliamentary and Shura Council elections. It is founded by a number of popular Egyptian figures including Gynecologist Muhammed Abo El Gar, Movie Director Dawoud Abdel El Sayed, Economist Hazem Al beblawy and Diplomat Mervat Al Talawy.
