The debut issue of GQ Thailand has launched, with the GQ website also going live. GQ Thailand is the 20th edition of GQ worldwide.

 

The September issue launch cover is a triple fold, featuring 6 celebrities who are leaders in the Thai music and film industries.

The main cover stars Hugo, an international singer who was recently signed by Jay-Z; Thai hiphop singer Joey Boy, who co-produced a song with will.i.am; and Tiradej Wongpuapan, one of Thailand’s most popular actors.

The middle section features Thai filmmaker and screenwriter Banjong Pisanthanakun, who co-wrote the hit 2004 horror film Shutter, currently optioned for a Hollywood remake; and actor Ray MacDonald who won Best Actor at the Thailand National Film Association Awards for his role in Fun Bar Karaoke.

The third section of the cover features teen actor Thanapob Leeratanakajorn; Nirut Sirijanya, an iconic figure in the Thai film industry, who starred in The Hangover 2 as well as being on the judging panel of Thailand’s Got Talent in 2011, and Niwklom Munint, a leading author.

To celebrate the 11th anniversary of Vogue Café Moscow, Gary Robinson, Director of Condé Nast International Restaurants hosted a special guest chef appearance. From 17th-21st June 2014, diners at the Vogue Café sampled dishes such as hazelnut-crusted scallops with foie gras, and candied root vegetable with a peanut nougat slice. British Fashion Council announces winner of BFC/GQ Designer Menswear Fund 2014

The British Fashion Council (BFC) announced Christopher Shannon as the winner of the inaugural BFC/GQ Designer Menswear Fund supported by Vertu. The Fund was established in September 2013 following the success of the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund and provides one designer with £150,000 grant to provide necessary infrastructure to take them to the next stage of their business and £50,000 value in kind services, including a bespoke, high level mentoring support programme over a twelve month period.

 

 

Christopher Raeburn, Christopher Shannon, E. Tautz, Lou Dalton and Richard Nicoll were shortlisted for the 2014 prize and participated in a mentoring programme where industry experts, including Fund committee members Ben Banks and Jonathan Akeroyd provided guidance on topics including strategic planning, branding, leadership, commercial retail, e-tail and wholesale and digital innovation. Vertu, the world’s leading luxury mobile manufacturer and lead partner on this Fund, played a key role in the mentoring programme and gave access to its team of business leaders in technology, global distribution, legal and finance.

On the 1st April, an Italian themed dinner and private view of the new exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London was co-hosted by Nicholas Coleridge, President of Condé Nast International and Trustee of the V&A; Alexandra Shulman, Editor of British Vogue; and Franca Sozzani, Editor in Chief of Vogue Italia. The event marked the launch of The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945-2014, which opens on Saturday 5 April and runs until 27th July.

 

Joining Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and Vice Chairman Nicola Bulgari and CEO Jean Christophe Babin of the event and the exhibition’s headline sponsor Bulgari, were guests including Tom Ford, Domenic Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Valentino Garavani, Naomi Campbell, Angela Missoni, Poppy Delevingne, Manolo Blahnik and Christopher Kane.

 

Showcasing more than 120 ensembles and accessories by leading fashion houses, The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945-2014 is the first major show to examine Italy’s rich and influential contribution to fashion from the end of the Second World War to the present. It explores the story of Italian fashion through the pivotal individuals and organisations that have contributed to its reputation for quality and style.

L’Uomo Vogue, the International Condé Nast magazine dedicated to style and personalities, and The Woolmark Company, the global authority on Merino wool, under the direction of Franca Sozzani Editor in Chief of Vogue Italia and L’Uomo Vogue and UN Ambassador of Goodwill, are proud to announce a special collaboration. Marking the historic connection between Australian woolgrowers and the Italian fashion industry, the initiative highlights two special occasions: the launch by L’Uomo Vogue of a special Australian issue dedicated to Australian heritage and top personalities, featuring award-winning Cate Blanchett and Baz Luhrmann on the cover as well as the 50th anniversary of the Woolmark logo, the brand symbolising quality wool.

 

As part of this celebration of style and talent, World Wide Wool, a unique and unprecedented event was held on March 27th in Sydney. "An Artful Thread Between Fashion and Style" opened in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, an exhibition curated by Franca Sozzani. The exhibition encompassed portraits of Australian personalities from the L'Uomo Vogue March monographic issue, dedicated to Australia.  Under the artistic direction of Franca Sozzani, a collection of amazing photos of Australia’s most influential names in fashion, design, art, music, economy and public life, by the most important photographers, were exhibited to capture the multi-faceted Australian identity.

The exhibition was accompanied by a shopping night dedicated to Australian wool, with special in-store events throughout Syndey's most prestigious shopping district.  The windows of the most important flagship stores displayed  photographs from L’Uomo Vogue archives, with the intent to create an exclusive and extraordinary “street photo exhibition” dedicated to fashion and Merino wool.

The December debut issue of Condé Nast Traveller Middle East is now on sale.
