THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: World Seventh Day Adventist Church which is spread over 209 countries, will hold the valedictory function of its 150th anniversary celebrations on October 24 and 25 in the city .

Since the inauguration of the 150th anniversary celebrations in April, the Church has carried out various schemes in public interest such as awareness campaigns against the use of tobacco and alcohol.

The valedictory function of the sesquicentennial celebrations would be held at Al Saj convention centre at Kazhakootam here. 

Seventh Adventist Church global president  Ted C Wilson and his wife would also take part in the two-day function as the guests of State Government.

According to the state office-bearers of the church, President Pranab Mukherjee is expected to inaugurate the valedictory function of the celebration held on October 24.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan and  dignitaries of other churches will also attend the function on October 24.

Ted C Wilson will lead the ‘Sabbath’ day prayers on October 25 morning. Church Division president R John, pastor Selvamani, pastor P A Varghese and D Chandran will also assist the church head during the prayers. Seventh Day Adventist Church was founded in Michigan state of USA in 1863.
