You might call this time of year fall. I call it Women of the Year Season. As I write this, Glamour HQ is abuzz with our selection of 12 trailblazers, entertainers, influencers, and game changers who shaped our year. The list is a closely guarded secret until our December issue hits newsstands and app stores, but today, in honor of Day of the Girl, I am proud to announce that 16-year-old Malala Yousafzai, champion of education as a tool of empowerment for girls around the world, is one of 2013's Glamour Women of the Year, and her Malala Fund will be the recipient of money raised by the Women of the Year Fund initiative supporting girls education globally.

A year ago this week, Malala was shot and nearly killed by the Taliban when she tried to attend school. During her remarkable recovery, she was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, published a book, I Am Malala, and continues to publicly, bravely, fight so that girls around the world are guaranteed the right to an education. Today Glamour is kicking off a yearlong campaign to raise support for the Malala Fund, which helps programs that directly impact the quality and accessibility of education for girls.

I hope you'll take a moment to make a donation, and to spread the word about Malala's mission. In fact, when you share the pic above on Twitter or Instagram, tagging @glamourmag and using #MalalaWoty, then you'll be entered for a chance to win a trip to Glamour's Women of the Year Awards in New York City this November. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Get the details, including full rules, on glamour.com/win.
