Business as usual at Trade Training Centre in Mackay

THE Mackay community now has more chances to be part of CQUniversity, which merged with CQ TAFE on July 1, to become the first comprehensive university in Queensland.

The new Trade Training Centre, which is part of CQUniversity Mackay, Ooraela, continues to operate as normal, providing training in a number of apprenticeship areas including automotive mechanical, construction, carpentry, fitting and machining, metal fabrication, electrical and plumbing.

Currently, the CQUniversity Trade Training Centre has two courses, Certificate I in Construction (Pre-Apprenticeship) and Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology (Pre-Apprenticeship), starting in mid-August.

These courses are specifically designed for people who would like to prepare for entry into carpentry or automotive trade areas.

The carpentry qualification provides training in a number of topics including the use of construction tools and equipment, and reading/interpreting plans; preparing students for future work in the Mackay construction industry.

For further information regarding these courses or how to apply please contact CQUniversity Mackay on 13 27 86 or go to www.cqu.edu.au.
