RAMALLAH (Ma’an) -- Fourteen Palestinian refugees were reported killed and another 43 injured on Monday, a report from the Palestinian government's WAFA news said.

The victims were part of a massive group in Al-Yarmok, an unofficial Palestinian refugee camp in the Syrian capital of Damascus, mourning the death of between 10-23 Palestinians by Israeli fire on the Golan Heights ceasefire line the day before.

Angered over the failure of camp leaders to organize demonstrations marking the Naksa, the anniversary of Israel's occupation of the West Bank, Gaza, and Golan Heights, an estimated 100,000 mourners were said to have attacked the headquarters of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command.

Reports said the party's leadership refused to participate in the Naksa Day events, but encouraged camp residents to do so. Tensions had already been high in the camp, according to Palestinian sources in the area, because of a divide in the support of leaders for the Syrian regime, and many camp residents who support pro-opposition groups.

Militants with the PRFL-GC reportedly opened fire on the crowd, who were taken to a local camp hospital for treatment. The report cited hospital staff saying 14 were pronounced dead.

During the clash, mourners reportedly set fire into the PFLP-GC headquarters, and demanded condemned the group for its use of weapons against the crowd.

On Sunday, thousands gathered on the Syrian-Israel ceasefire line in the Golan Heights and attempted to breach the frontier in a march of Palestinian refugees and their supporters demanding an end to Israel's occupation of the West Bank, Gaza and the Golan Heights, taken over 44 years ago that day in the 1967 War.

Syrian television said Israeli soldiers fired on the unarmed group, killing 23, while Israel says 10 were killed by Syrian landmines along the ceasefire line.

The event was a repeat of 15 May protests marking the Nakba, when some 800,000 Palestinians were displaced from their homes and villages during fighting that accompanied the declaration of the state of Israel. Four from Syria and ten from Lebanon were killed by Israeli fire in protests on that day.

This version adds information on the reasons behind the protest.

I have to say those Syrians make WONDERFUL HOSTS, DON'T THEY ? As if it wasn't bad ENOUGH for Palestinians and their supporters getting killed by us alongside the Golan Heights-Syrian ceasefire line and Syria's own landmines, now there are 57 more Palestinian casualties (43 injured; 14 dead) in a damn Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus courtesy of the PFLP-GC. Maybe the Americans can send in their President Obama to make peace. After all, wasn't he awarded the Nobel Peace Prize ?

What a sad group of people the Palestinians are ! In 1947 they lived in 2 major countries. Jordon- West Bank residents and Egypt- Gaza residents. The 1947 and 1967 wars made them even more fragmented as they ran away to other surrounding countries. These countries put them into refugee camps never to be allowed to become citizens of those host countries. They now are starting to fight their leaders in the camps. What a mess. Trully these people have been let down by their leaders since 1947

"Militants with the PRFL-GC reportedly opened fire on the group ..." Will the same people that rushed to blame Israel yesterday now question why "crowd control" methods were not employed?

Some were killed on the Syrian side by the explosion of landmines set off by Syrians throwing Molotov Cocktails. Report in Ynet was that IDF troops were restrained in their approach, using snipers to shoot at the legs of protesters breaching Israel's border with Syria but some protesters, running forward, were either killed because the snipers missed their mark or due to blood loss. At any rate, Syrians were warned. YOU DON'T BREACH A SOVEREIGN NATION'S BORDERS WITH IMPUNITY!

I know Yarmouk well. I know one who was killed yesterday by the Israelis. This is a very sad end to the day. The Palestinian youth are developing a new form of unarmed struggle and although the sacrifices may be high, I think it's that only way at present. I am old but my solidarity is with Palestinian youth

Interesting. Assuming the story's straight, you ain't seen nothin' yet when it comes to demonstrations at the border. The Arab leadership is holding them back, not egging them on. When they let go...

And why this misplaced attempt to conform to the Zionist historical narrative? '...when some 800,000 Palestinians were displaced from their homes and villages.' They weren't 'displaced from their homes.' They were driven from them. That's not polemic, it's fact. You make it sound like there was a freeway project or something, and regrettably, the Palestinians just had to move.

Palestinians murder Palestinians in Lebanon.
Palestinians murder Israeli Jews in Israel.
Palestinians murder Arab collaborators in Israel.
Palestinians murder American cripples on cruise ships.
Palestinians murder Palestinians in a Syrian refugee camp.

And, the common theme is simple: PALESTINIANS MURDER !!!

Where are all the PAL lovers now? They shoot each other. Do they only know violence?

This would be laughable if not so sad. Palestinians first dumb enough to cross a fence that Israelis in advance said would not be tolerated at any cost. Then they kill each other because they think they were too disorganized when walking into bullets. if there is such a thing as the
anti-Nobel prize this should get it.

9 ) Colin Wright / USA "That's not polemic, it's fact." - Interesting, were you there and witnessed it all? All of them?

To Robby #3 '"Militants with the PRFL-GC reportedly opened fire on the group ..." Will the same people that rushed to blame Israel yesterday now question why "crowd control" methods were not employed?' I will -- just as soon as my government starts arming the PRFL-GC, giving it three billion a year, protecting it in the UN, and applauding its crimes. Then I'll worry about the PRFL-GC.

14 ) Colin Wright / USA - So we should give them money so they don't kill their own people?
