BAGHDAD / NINA / Head of the Supreme Islamic Council Ammar al-Hakim discussed on Monday with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, in Tehran, the security and political situation in the region.

A statement by the Supreme Council said that al- Hakim confirmed during the meeting that the Iraqis were able to defeat by their unity the IS organization, praising Iran's support for Iraq in its security ordeal.

He praised the security victories achieved in Jurf al-Nasser , Baiji, Dhuluiya and Amerli, noting that the victory over the IS became very soon.

The Head of the Islamic Supreme Council Ammar al-Hakim is visiting Iran now, and during his visit he met with Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, and Secretary General of the Supreme Council for National Security Ali Shamkhani ./End
