BAGHDAD / NINA / The US embassy in Baghdad announced on Tuesday that the United States donated with 250 anti-mines and ambush armored vehicles type (MRAP) to the Iraqi government.
A statement by the US Embassy quoted Ambassador Stuart Jones as saying that "the number one threat against Iraqi security forces is the improvised explosive devices that are planted on roadsides and those that carry out by car bombs.
It added that these vehicles will provide further protection against missiles and mines that hinder the Iraqi security forces, and will save the lives of Iraqis and will enable the Iraqi security forces of winning the battle against the IS.
The statement noted that "the United States continues to accelerate the process of delivery of military equipment, weapons and ammunition to Iraq in line with a long-term agreement items and security partnership between the two countries.
He said that what the US is doing of the delivery of military equipment and training comes in response to requests from Iraq and in support of counter-terrorism policy, which includes cooperation in the economic aspects and the political and security fields./End
