Callum Macrae on U.S. tour with screening of No Fire Zone, which documents final days of the 26-year Sri Lankan civil war and incorporates footage by victims and perpetrators of alleged war crimes recorded on mobile phones and small cameras.

Award-winning documentary filmmaker Callum Macrae launches his U.S. tour, visiting college campuses from New York City to San Diego, February 2 to the 11. He will screen his film, No Fire Zone, and talk about his reporting experience, his filming process, the conflict and current politics at play in Sri Lanka.

The tour will begin on February 2 with screenings of the film at New York's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University and at CUNY's Graduate School of Journalism. Macrae will also speak at our Campus Consortium campuses from American University on February 4, and University of Pennsylvania on February 5, to Washington University in St. Louis on February 9 and Southern Illinois University Carbondale on February 10, and a final stop at University of San Diego on February 11.

Through powerful personal stories, eyewitness testimony and video evidence, No Fire Zone shows how thousands of civilians were told to gather in what the government promised would be a no fire zone and were then systematically shelled and deliberately denied adequate food and medicines. No Fire Zone incorporates direct evidence of summary execution, torture and sexual violence via footage recorded from within the zone by both victims and perpetrators on mobile phones and small cameras.
