What is swissmail.org?
Swissmail.org provides a reliable email service for boundless and confidential communication. Privacy is not only a human right but also required to survive in a competitive business world. Despite all the privacy statements you will find in the Internet we believe that only a direct commitment to the customer guarantees compliance with the privacy agreement. Our service is free of advertising and independent which means we are only paid by our customers. Therefore we are highly motivated to provide the best service and to ensure the privacy of our customers.

Who can use swissmail.org?
Swissmail.org is designed for single email users with a range from basic to professional use. For companies we have our DomBox solution, which provides a management tool for all swissmail.org email accounts within your domain.

Who should use swissmail.org?
All people, companies, teams or associations with at least a minimal awareness of privacy and security should use swissmail.org because:
  • We do not read or scan your emails for marketing purposes.
  • We have no advertising at all. As well as being irritating, banner ads can also represent risks such as malware infection.
  • We provide secure access all over the world with almost any email client supported.
  • Your emails are saved and backuped in Switzerland, which has strong laws for privacy protection.
  • We have no backdoor for any government in the world not even for Switzerland itself.

How do we do it (service level of email service)?

Location / Data center
Both data centers are located in Switzerland. They are protected with high security access control(biometric identification) and equipped with all technical equipment needed to protect against power, water and fire incidents. The data centers satisfy the official Swiss banking standard (EBK Richtlinien 99/2).

Servers
All servers have mirrored hard disks to prevent loss of data and to minimize downtimes. All services run in virtual machines, which allows us to react quickly and flexibly to any situation.

Backup
All mailboxes and customer data are backed up daily. We keep the backups for seven days in a second data center in Switzerland and we provide a restoring service* for customers who have lost any emails.
*The service is only available for DomBox accounts and Standard/Professional accounts from swissmail.org. Our backup takes a daily snapshot from the mail accounts. Only emails within this snapshot can be restored.

Spam filter
All email accounts can use our spam filter. Within the ControlCenter you can adjust the settings to your needs.

Virus scanner
We scan all incoming emails for viruses and drop all infected emails.

Uptime
We guarantee an uptime of 99,9% per year (apart from any announced maintenance-driven service breaks). See the current status with our independent monitoring. Please also read our service agreement.
