Not Quite Goodbye
Having refrained from writing in the first person here before – except in one or two instances that I can recall – I beg my readers for an indulgence to do so now. For you see, this is a special, quasi-column: a not-quite-goodbye.
Some of you may have noticed a couple of articles in the past two months have been different, and saw an odd note at the end: "This originally appeared on Russia Today." After fourteen years of writing for Antiwar.com, last fall I also started writing columns for RT. Then, a couple of weeks ago, they officially welcomed me on board as a writer. Because of company policies, journalist ethics and potential conflicts of interest, that means my exclusives for Antiwar.com have come to an end.
My articles should still appear here from time to time, when I address some issue of war and peace or another that Antiwar.com’s editors find pertinent. I have neither forgotten nor forsaken my roots or my audience. I haven’t changed my opinions, beliefs, or principles. This is but the next logical step in the journey I began back in October 2000, when Antiwar.com invited me to be their Balkans (and later Europe and Russia) columnist. It has been an honor and privilege to share that journey with you for all these fourteen-plus years.
I would like to thank my long-suffering editors for their infinite patience and understanding, and all who have ever read "Balkan Express" and "Moments of Transition." From the first day to the present, I have endeavored not to snipe or sneer, but to criticize and correct, hoping to in some fashion contribute to the struggle for the soul of the Republic against the demon of Empire that at some point possessed it. To set the record straight, so that the war I lived through would not be visited upon my children, or theirs. To what measure I may have succeeded, or failed, is not for me to judge.
I will say, however, that if I could do it – a penniless, accidental immigrant, who had everything to lose and nothing to gain from speaking truth to power – so can you.
Ave atque vale.

I always learn from reading your columns, Malic, and wish you good luck. Maybe we will be able to see you even more on RT's Crosstalk now. I seldom miss a show (on Youtube) and always look forward to your appearances.

We are sorry to see you leave! Who will continue informing us on the situation in former Yugoslavia we don't get to read or hear in the US Media? Hope Justin Raymondo can take over or theywill hire someone else from the Balkan area. Good luck to you.

I hope they find someone to fill your shoes. It will be next to impossible to have anybody outside of the Balkan area to have such a keen insight on dealings and happenings from out there juxtaposed with influence and actions from over here. May God bless you. Good luck in all your endeavors. I will
try to follow on RT also.

I have been following this website for over ten years now, always looking forward to Nebojsa's articles as a way to stay informed and up to date of what is happening in the Balkans. Nebojsa's passion for the subject at hand is evident in his writing and whilst there will still be columns over at RT, I fear for some reason it won't quite be as natural as anything posted here. But thank you Nebojsa, thank you in particular for sharing your knowledge of Balkan history to the readers of this website over the years and wishing you all the best in the future

Good luck Mr. Malic !
Internet ease to follow someone wherever he may write aside, your leaving is a loss for Antiwar readers, both in original content and style.
Thank you for all your contributions here.

Mr. Mali, I wish you well on your employment with Mr. Putin's extraordinary propaganda machine. As a communist traitor, it will be interesting to see how Vladimir or his minions assess your servitude. As a Serb, if you are one, don't forget 1948. And read Djilas's 'Conversations with Stalin' to prepare yourself for that painful moment…or perhaps Andric.

By citing Andric, I'm referring to that epic scene of impalement. Figuratively, moral impalement awaits you, Mr. Mali, in Moscow. Prepare to bend over…

I learned so much from these columns! It was so eye opening to read that the Kosovo war and Iraq war were two sides of the same coin! Stuck with me the most. Expanding American empire via liberals "humanitarian war" or conservatives "national security"'or "WMD". The destruction and selling out of Serbia by parties who once in power all had the same policies! So much so that Serbs completely have given up and just started voting to rubber stamp all demands made of it including recognizing Kosovo independence in the Brussels agreement.
