Prizes, Awards, and Grants

Prizes and awards. The William Nelson Prize is awarded annually for the best article in RQ ($600); the Phyllis Goodhart Gordan Prize is awarded annually for the best book published in Renaissance studies ($1,000); the Gladys Krieble Delmas Prize is awarded biannually for the best book in Renaissance Venetian Studies ($1,000); and the RSA-TCP Article Prize in Digital Renaissance Research is awarded annually ($600).

Research grants. Grants of up to $3,000 are awarded in three categories: pre-doctoral, younger scholar/independent scholar, and senior scholar. RSA will award thirty-three grants in 2015, including six residential grants with partnering libraries and centers.


RSA conference registration discount

RSA members receive a discount of approximately 40 percent off the cost of nonmember conference registration.

Early English Books Online database (EEBO) access

You may access the Early English Books Online database (EEBO) as a current member at no additional cost. EEBO contains digital facsimile page images of virtually every work printed in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and British North America and works in English printed elsewhere from 1473-1700 - from the first book printed in English by William Caxton, through the age of Spenser and Shakespeare and the tumult of the English Civil War.


Discounted subscriptions

JPASS access plan. You may purchase a discounted 1-year JPASS access plan for $99 — a 50 percent discount on the listed rate. Designed for those without institutional access to the JSTOR archival collections, JPASS may be valuable for scholars working outside of the academy, faculty members at institutions with limited access to JSTOR, and adjuncts with sporadic access to library resources. JPASS includes unlimited reading and 120 article downloads for more than 1,500 humanities, social science, and science journals in the JSTOR archival collections. The JPASS Collection consists of roughly eighty percent of the JSTOR archive at this time. Current journals, books, and primary sources are not included in the JPASS offer.

Iter Bibliography. You may purchase a discounted subscription to Iter Bibliography, a bibliography of more than 1.1 million citations for secondary source material about the European Middle Ages and Renaissance, 400–1700.

I Tatti Studies in the Italian Renaissance. You may subscribe to this journal at a 20 percent discount:  subscribe to the electronic version for only $24, or the print + electronic for only $28. Both include the free e-Book. I Tatti Studies draws on the traditional strengths of Villa I Tatti’s library as well as the vast international community of fellows and scholars who work in the field of early modern Italy. The University of Chicago Press is pleased to be able to extend this discount to all RSA members.

ACLS Humanities E-Book (HEB). You may purchase a discounted ACLS Humanities E-Book subscription. ACLS Humanities E-Book is an online, fully searchable collection of approximately 4,000 high-quality books in the Humanities, recommended and reviewed by scholars.
