    About Allegheny College

    Allegheny College, founded in 1815, is a highly selective private college of 2,100 undergraduates. It ranks among the top 7% of liberal arts colleges in the production of future Ph.D.’s, business leaders and other professionals. The College is in Meadville, Pennsylvania, just south of Erie. Pelletier Library houses a collection of 400,000 physical volumes with access to a wide selection of electronic databases, journals and ebooks.     Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut bases its educational philosophy, standards, and practices on the American liberal arts model of higher education and currently offers more than 120 programs leading to the bachelor's, master's, MD, and PhD degrees. The AUB Libraries include the Jafet Memorial Library, Saab Medical Library, Engineering and Architecture Library, and the Science and Agriculture Library with its annex, the Farm Library. The collections consist of 390000 print book titles in 470000 volumes, 6750 print periodicals in 180000 volumes, and 350000 electronic books. The Libraries subscribe to over 4500 periodicals, 300 databases and provide access to over 132000 electronic journals and conference proceedings. The Archives and Special Collections contain 1366 manuscripts in 1400 volumes, 8000 volumes of theses, projects, and dissertations going back to 1907, 4500 posters, 2000 maps, 50000 photographs, as well as 160 linear feet of archival papers of famous intellectuals, and 590 linear feet of University archives. The University Libraries employ 40 professional staff (all with master's degree or higher), 56 support staff (34 with college degrees), and 24 student assistants. More than 1.5 million people visit the University Libraries per year and over 400000 visit its main website. The University Libraries circulate or renew approximately 50,000 per year and provide instruction sessions to around 9000 students and faculty.     About Iowa State University Library

    The Iowa State University Library includes the Parks Library, which houses the main collections and library services, the Veterinary Medical Library, and subject-based reading rooms in Design and Mathematics. The Library provides an extensive array of print, electronic, and non-print information resources and services to support the university's mission to create, share, and apply knowledge to make Iowa and the world a better place.

    The e-Library (http://www.lib.iastate.edu) includes the Library's catalog, and access to a substantial number of indexing and abstracting databases, full-text publications, and other selected research tools.

    The Library's comprehensive collections support research and study through the master's level in most fields and at the doctoral level in eighty-four Ph.D. specializations. As a charter member (1932) of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), the Library’s resources are part of a national collection supporting comprehensive research in many disciplines, particularly in science and technology. Also widely recognized are collections in entomology, botany, economics, agriculture, engineering, and veterinary medicine. The Library collects materials in many formats with an emphasis on electronic resources where appropriate.     The Northwestern University Library (NUL) comprises the Main and Deering libraries, the Seeley G. Mudd Science and Engineering Library and the Math Library located on the Evanston campus; and the Schaffner Library on the downtown Chicago campus. NUL 's branch library in Doha, Qatar opened in 2008. The Pritzker Legal Research Center and the Galter Health Sciences Libraries are on the Chicago campus and, though administered separately, cooperate closely on collections, technology, space and staff development. Northwestern's libraries collectively hold more than 4.8 million volumes, 77,000 serial subscriptions, 4.5 million microfilms, 200,000 maps and 18,000 linear feet of manuscripts and archives. Northwestern has three collections of international distinction and broad comprehensiveness: the Melville J. Herskovits Library of African Studies, the Transportation Library, and the Music Library. The Charles Deering McCormick Library of Special Collections houses rare books, periodicals, posters, manuscripts and photographs, from cuneiform tablets to 21st century materials. University Archives documents Northwestern’s history and that of its faculty and alumni, with many items of national significance.

    The Ohio State University Libraries include the recently renovated William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library, the Prior Health Sciences Library, the Moritz Law Library and a dozen subject libraries on central campus. The system also includes University Archives, the Book Depository and six libraries on the university's regional campuses. The Libraries' print collection includes more than 6.4 million volumes. OhioLINK’s membership includes 16 public/research universities, 23 community/technical colleges, 49 private colleges and the State Library of Ohio.

    The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry Library provides support for our programs: DDS, dental hygiene, two primary care general residency programs and specialty programs in pediatric dentistry, endodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, prosthodontics, periodontics and orthodontics. Our specialized collection and services are housed in the School of Dentistry to aid the educational and research activities of the faculty, staff and students of the School of Dentistry.

    The University of Texas School of Public Health (UTSPH) Library services and resources to the University of Texas School of Public Health (a graduate-degree granting school) which is part of the University of Texas Health Science Center- Houston. The UTSPH Library is housed in the Raeul A. Stallones Building in Houston, TX. The collection focuses on 5 primary areas: epidemiology; statistics/biostatistics; behavioral sciences (specifically health behaviors); health/healthcare economics and management; and occupational/environmental health. UTSPH has over 1,400 students in Houston (the main campus), Austin, Brownsville, Dallas, El Paso, and San Antonio.

    The Research Medical Library (RML) is central to the research, teaching and learning activities that help make MD Anderson the world-leading comprehensive cancer center for which it is known. Our library staff members are active partners in assisting thousands of faculty members, students, residents and fellows as they conduct research, pursue answers and collaborate in Making Cancer History ®.The RML collections include 75,650 books in all formats, more than 1,500 rare books dating back to the sixteenth century, early journals and other publications on the history of cancer, 5,467 full-text electronic journals, and 100-plus online databases. We serve a primary clientele that includes more than 17,000 faculty, staff, students, residents and fellows from Houston, Texas, the United States, and the world.

    About University of Wisconsin-Madison Library

    The University of Wisconsin-Madison has the 11th largest research library collection in North America, according to a survey by the Association of Research Libraries. Memorial Library, the largest library in Wisconsin, and more than 40 General Library System, professional and special-purpose libraries serve the campus. Every year, approximately 5 million people visit the UW-Madison campus libraries, and online visits to library Web sites exceed 44 million. In 2007, the campus library collections included more than 8 million volumes representing human inquiry through all of history. In addition, there are more than 55,000 serial titles, 6.2 million microfilm items, and hundreds of thousands of government documents, maps, musical scores, audiovisual materials and other items housed in libraries across campus. Nearly 1 million volumes are circulated to library users every year.

    The UW libraries also emphasize service. Library staff take an active interest in teaching people how to use information resources. More than 29,000 students, staff and faculty attend library workshops and instructional programs each year. These instructional sessions include tours and hands-on classes about how to use the computer catalog and how to find specialized information. In one year, MadCat, the online library catalog, is accessed more than 123 million times.

    About Utah State University Library

    Utah State University is Utah’s land-grant university and the USU Libraries serve six campuses and multiple centers across Utah, with three separate facilities in Logan, Price, and Blanding. The flagship Merrill-Cazier Library in Logan opened in 2005 and features a variety of inviting and comfortable spaces for study and teaching. The Libraries’ collections include extensive research collections in all formats, and one of the largest collections of federal/state documents and maps in the intermountain region. The Libraries’ Special Collections and Archives is home to noteworthy collections of primary source materials in all formats, with an emphasis on the art, literature, and history of the Intermountain West. A renowned collection of Jack London materials, literary and artistic works about the Beat movement in America, and the acclaimed Fife Folklore Archives are preserved there. Many of these collections have been digitized, and the USU Digital Library offers thirty collections of materials related to the Bear River Watershed, Utah, and the Intermountain West. The USU Press, a division of the Libraries, is experimenting with an Open Access model for scholarly monographs.

    The Virginia Tech University Libraries were established in 1872 with 500 volumes.
