The office of a pro gay rights charity was vandalized and robbed late last week following its critique of Tunisia’s minister of human rights who said gays will not be tolerated in the country.

The COALITION FOR WOMEN OF TUNISIA, a duly registered non-profit network (JORT, the official publication of the Republic of Tunisia, N° 107, 6 September 2012, page 5762), is made up of fifteen (15) registered NGOs (see attach.1).
The founding NGOs, albeit not necessarily feminist organizations do include the gender dimension in their statutes. The shared ideal of gender equality as a dimension of human rights represents the pre-requisite for membership to the Network.

A year after scores of women began risking arrest and punishment by taking to Saudi Arabian roads in defiance of a long-standing ban on them driving, people around the world continue to spur them on in their struggle.

“Women, media and democracy in the Maghreb and the Middle East region” is a project led by the civil society, Maghreb and Middle East portal e-joussour, implemented by a consortium of NGOs from North America, Europe and the Maghreb and the Middle East region and co-financed by the European Union. Its focus is to develop and implement strategies for direct participation of organisations and networks of civil society organisations (CSOs) working for the defense and promotion of women's rights in the region.
