The study analyzes the biodiversity research output carried out during 2003–12 on different parameters including; share and citation impact, international collaborative papers, contribution of various subject fields, productivity and citation profile of top Indian institutions and authors. The Web of Science Database has been used to retrieve data for 10 years (2003–12). RCI and ACCP were applied to evaluate the scientific impact of publications. India holds 13th rank among the productive countries in biodiversity research consisting of 1,206 papers with a global publication share of 3.01%.

The herein approach addresses the case when the
user is part of the communication channel. A purpose of the
abstraction is to provide a framework for the field of
communications, with the user included in the system, reckoning the current 7 Layer model allows safeguards for data only. Solid grounds for application were identified as contribution to ensuring the need for safety which becomes tight during emergency events where timely evacuation is critical.

This paper presents the initial experiences and reflective accounts on the arrival of a European research colleague who recently joined our team of researchers working with Indigenous communities in Namibia. He aims to explore how communities across Namibia take on, understand and create persona artefacts of their own, and whether this may simulate or differ from persona as depicted in literature. We report on
the first set of interventions in three pastoral locales where persona creation by Namibian Ovaherero was first attempted. We narrate this as a synchronous dialogue that recounts the blunders, protocol-breakings, misunderstandings, and also some breakthroughs obtained thus-far. Ultimately, we reflect on the importance of the preliminary preparation of the researcher and on the usefulness that local experienced researchers’ guidance provides. We conclude drawing on a series of thoughts on how the overall experience has resulted thus-far.

This study presents a comparative research study, aiming to a pilot evaluation of a learning tool (entitled the Q&A CS-Wizard), dedicated to the improvement of lesson plans, constructed by teachers through the creation of questions that encourage the development of students' cognitive skills. This tool is integrated within LAMS, an open source ‘learning design’ inspired system.  This study is part of a wider work towards the investigation of the effect of tools included within LAMS on the improvement of lesson plans designed by Computer Science teachers. Seventeen Computer Science teachers participated in a learning design experiment for the design of lesson plans dedicated for the encouragement of the development of students’ various cognitive skills. The analysis of the data that emerged shows that those teachers’ lesson plans were improved -through the use of the Q&ACS-Wizard within LAMS- when compared with their lesson plans designed without the use of this tool, in terms of: (a) encouragement of the development of diverse cognitive skills and the cultivation of learners’ critical thinking and (b) an increase in questions encouraging higher order cognitive skills, with a decrease in  questions encouraging lower order cognitive skills.

Grammar deployment is the process of turning a given grammar specification into a working parser. The Grammar Deployment Kit (for short, GDK) provides tool support in this process based on grammar engineering methods. We are mainly interested in the deployment of grammars for software renovation tools, that is, tools for software re- and reverse engineering. The current version of GDK is optimized for Cobol. We assume that grammar deployment starts from an initial grammar specification which is maybe still ambiguous or even incomplete. In practice, grammar deployment binds unaffordable human resources because of the unavailability of suitable grammar specifications, the diversity of parsing technology as well as the limitations of the technology, integration problems regarding the development of software renovation functionality, and the lack of tools and adherence to firm methods for grammar engineering. GDK helps to largely automate grammar deployment because tool support for grammar adaptation and parser generation is provided. We support different parsing technologies, among them btyacc, that is, yacc with backtracking. GDK is free software.
