President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan
Modern-day Nigeria came into being on January 1, 1914, with the formal amalgamation of the Northern and Southern Protectorates of the former British colony. Therefore January 1, this year marks 100 years of the Union.
The Centenary celebration therefore gives us an opportunity to highlight our achievements as a nation, celebrate our dexterity, resilience as a people and determination to launch Nigeria into the next century with greater expectations.
In line with this, the Central Bank of Nigeria has redesigned the ₦100 note to commemorate the attainment of this milestone.
