CHAN 2014: Major Boost for Libyan Football as National Team wins first-ever International tournament
Libya football wrote a very important page in the history of the sport when it won the 2014 edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2014) by beating Ghana 4-3 on penalties after the match and extra time at the Cape Town Stadium in South Africa failed to produce a goal.

Libyan football supporters have not been this enthusiastic about their national football team in 32 years, that’s the only time they played in a continental tournament final. It was March 19, 1982. Then, as this Saturday in the final, of the African Nations Championship, their opponents in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations that Libya itself hosted, were the Black Stars of Ghana.

Libya have managed to go beyond their expectations and following a 5-4 victory at the end of a penalty-shooting contest in their semi-final clash against Zimbabwe in Bloemfontein on Wednesday, qualified to contest the final of the African Nations Championship on Saturday against Ghana, who also got through following a shoot-off with Nigeria, winning it 4-1.

CHAN 2014: Libya Beat Gabon to Reach Semi-Finals
At the end of a lacklustre encounter at the Peter Mokaba Stadium Libya beat Gabon 4-2 on penalties to reach the semi-finals of the African Nations Championships in South Africa and will now meet Zimbabwe for a place in the final. Ghana managed to get the otehr quarter-final place by beating RD Congo 1-0.

CHAN 2014: Nigeria After an Amazing Comeback, and Zimbabwe by Outfoxing Mali Reach Semis
Nigeria completed one of the most amazing comebacks in modern football when they came from three goals down at half time to beat a shocked Morocco 4-3 and progress to the semi-finals of the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2014) tournament in a compelling game played at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday. On the same day, Zimbabwe qualified to the last four stage by virtue of a 2-1 win over Mali.

CHAN 2014: Gabon, DR Congo Take Last Quarter-final Places
Former champions Democratic Republic of Congo came from behind to book a place in the quarter-finals of the African Nations Championship in South Africa with Group D toppers Gabon following a 2-1 Group D victory over Burundi that also eliminated the losers from the competition. Gabon won the group at the end of a 4-2 win over Mauritania.

CHAN: Libya Scrape Through to Quarters with Ghana from Group C
Libya managed to avoid defeat against Congo and in the process sneak into the KO stage of the African Nations Championship in South Africa by virtue of their runner up spot to Ghana in Group C.

CHAN 2014: Morocco, Zimbabwe Clinch Quarter Finals places with Last Group B wins
Morocco as group leaders on goal difference, and Zimbabwe, Monday secured their passage into quarter-finals of the African Nations Championship when they won their final matches in Group B. Morocco beat Uganda 3-1 and Zimbabwe got the better of Burkina Faso with a 1-0 success.

CHAN 2014: Hosts Are Eliminated as Mali, Nigeria Qualify to KO Stage
South Africa, who are hosting the current edition of African Nations Championship (CHAN 2014) suffered a disappointment when they lost 3-1 Nigeria and got eliminated from the competition leaving the victors to qualify to the last right stage along with Mali who won Group C after beating Mozamibque 2-1.

CHAN 2014: Libya, Ghana Share Share Points in Thriller
Libya and Ghana played out a thrilling 1-1 draw in group C of the Africa Nations Championship at the Free State Stadium in Mangaung on Friday to stay locked on four points each at the top of Group C and with Libya in first position by virtue of more goals scored.

Libya and Ghana who both won their opening matches on Monday from Group C at the African Nations Championship in South Africa, meet Friday at the Free State Stadium in Mangaung in what could prove to be the group clincher as a win for either side will put the victor within touching distance of a quarterfinal berth.

CHAN 2014: Morocco Pay Price for Missed Chances
Morocco are still searching for their first victory in Group B of the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2014) in South Africa following their 1-1 draw with Burkina Faso on Thursday and could in the end find it difficult to qualify to the KO stage when they face table-toppers with four points Uganda in their final group match on Monday. In the other match, Uganda and Zimbabwe drew 0-0.

CHAN 2014: Nigeria Return with a Win to Share Points' Tally with S. Africa, Mali
The Group A teams made their second appearance at the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2014) in South Africa with Nigeria showing great improvement on their first outing by defeating Mozambique 4-2, while hosts South Africa were held to a 1-1 draw by Mali. As such, three teams, Mali, Nigeria and Mali share the top billing on points in the group with three; Mozambique are still pointless.
