Dedicated towards the cultivation of the 'whole' person, campus recreation programs and staff provide a variety of opportunities for ALL students to enhance their university experience through recreation, fitness and well-being.   Through the Club and Intramural Sport Programs, students can participate in sport programs in a recreational or competitive setting against fellow students and other teams from other universities.  The Outdoor Education program connects students to each other and the environment through wildness-based endeavors, both local and abroad. Leisure and Recreation Education classes allow students to learn new life-long recreational and athletic skills through a non-credit instructional course.  Furthermore, safety training courses connect students with the education and skills needed to help their community.

At the Yates Field House - the university's recreation facility - extensive fitness and recreation programming is available for not only students but also staff, faculty and local community members.  Yates facilities and equipments are dedicated towards serving the fitness needs of all our students and members.  Extensive group fitness, aquatics and racquet sport programs provide daily opportunities for students and members to improve physical and mental wellness.

Yates Field House is also one of the largest employers of student staff on campus.  Each year, our student lifeguards, instructors, attendants and sport officials support our professional staff in offering some of the best fitness programs in the Washington, D.C. area.
