Director of Statistics

Welcome

As Director of Statistics I take the opportunity to welcome and encourage users of our new website. We recognize the vital role of statistics in improving the lives of the people of Trinidad and Tobago and the need for our citizens as well as our regional and international users to access high quality, timely and relevant statistics. The Central Statistical Office is fully committed to meeting the current and evolving information needs of our citizens.

The CSO is a Division of the Ministry of Planning and Sustainable Development charged with the responsibility of taking censuses in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and collecting, compiling, analyzing and publishing statistical information relating to all social and economic activities of the people of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. This web site is our latest venture in a host of proposed activities as we seek to meet the challenges of effectively executing our responsibilities as mandated by law.

The CSO is currently engaged in transformation efforts and will aggressively pursue its ongoing program to renew its structure, business processes, and systems to increase its efficiency and robustness, and to allow more rapid responses to demands for new statistical programs or products.

As we move towards our strategic vision, it is our hope that through this web site the CSO will significantly re-engineer and re-package our traditional reports and bulletins and will generate a mix of superior products via a user friendly tool. The web site will strengthen the cohesiveness and effectiveness of Trinidad and Tobago official statistics and maintain the cooperation of our data providers. Through this medium we hope to build a warm relationship of mutual respect and trust with our data users and providers who are really our partners in the national statistical system.

On behalf of all the employees of the Central Statistical Office, I thank our stakeholders for their continued support, and I invite you to explore the website further for your data needs.
