The festival board feel it is very important to remember why Newlyn Fish Festival exists. The RNMDSF do vital work within Cornwall’s Fishing Community.
To commemorate our friends, our lost fishermen, who over the years have paid the ultimate price to feed us all we will lay a simple wreath at the foot of the Fishermens memorial statue. This will be on Sunday 30th August at 6pm immediately prior to the Mission’s Blessing of the Fleet Service which will start in the fish market at 6:30pm. The memorial is situated on Newlyn Green near Tolcarne.

Since former Mission Superintendent Len Scott decided to launch the Newlyn Fish Festival in 1989 the festival has sought to raise funds for the benefit of those involved in this tough industry, not just in Newlyn but across Cornwall. This has been achieved through a wonderful day of celebration of the sea, seafood and fishing.
Over the last 25 years the festival has donated tens of thousands of pounds to the Fishermen’s Mission. This is a drop in the Ocean.
Make your way to the MemoryFish stand beside the new ice works in festival square for a bite of history.
The Newlyn Fish Festival is organised in aid of the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen which provides care, compassion and support to working, retired and disabled fishermen and their families.
