Syrian Army and Hezbollah Capture 25km of Territory in Southern Aleppo While the Islamists Counter

The Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF), Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions), and Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi militia) – continued their offensive inside the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside on Saturday, targeting the Islamist rebel groups from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham, and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) at the towns of Al-Shughaydilah and Sabiqiyah.

However, a distress call from the Islamist rebels inside Al-Hadhir prompted a large convoy of reinforcements from the Idlib Governorate cities of Saraqib and Taftanaz to assist their embattled comrades in retaking Al-Shughaydilah and the southern axis of ‘Abtayn after intense firefights with the National Defense Forces inside the aforementioned town.

While the Islamist rebels were able to achieve some success at the Abtayn front, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division and Hezbollah would continue their successful campaign, capturing Miniqat Al-Bala’as, Tal Al-Zahmout, Al-Dabaghat, and Tal Al-Shaheed from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Jabhat Al-Nusra, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham after intense firefights near the Syrian Government’s only supply route to the Aleppo Governorate.

With their latest success in southern Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance have now captured over 25km of territory from the Islamist rebel forces; this offensive has also left many Islamist rebels killed by both the pro-government forces and the Russian Air Force.

The Russian Air Force has been extremely effective during this Syrian Arab Army/Hezbollah offensive in southern Aleppo, as they have repeatedly struck the Islamist rebel factions that are currently combatting the pro-government forces.
