Closed Loop Simulation of Decentralized Control using RGA for Uncertain Binary Distillation Column

This paper presents the results of closed loop simulation for decentralized control of uncertain ... more This paper presents the results of closed loop simulation for decentralized control of uncertain distillation column. The RGA (Relative Gain Array) RGA analysis will be used as the basis for selecting the configuration of the decentralized control system. PI controller obtained was then tuned with optimization methods. The simulation results show that the RGA analysis requires accurate range for uncertain systems. In addition, closed-loop simulation results confirm the RGA analysis.

One of which is in the manufacture of aniline. Aniline has an important role as dyes, synthetic rubber materials, rocket fuels and pharmaceuticals. Nitrobenzene can be synthesized by the nitration reaction of benzene. The purpose of the research is to design synthesis process of nitrobenzene by using Aspen Hysys simulator. The effect of changes in operating condition on nitrobenzene will be investigated. The benefits of the research are to obtain the optimum operating temperature for nitrobenzene production so that the use of utility can be minimized.

Untuk mencapai hal ini dengan cara yang efisien, maka diperlukan untuk menjaga lingkungan yang sesuai untuk mikroorganisme setiap saat. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk menerapkan algoritma kendali PI (Proporsional integral) dan PID (Proporsional Integral Derivative) untuk suatu sistem bioproses. Kriteria Bode kemudian diterapkan untuk memeriksa kestabilan sistem diikuti dengan penentuan parameter pengendali menggunakan metode TLC (Tyreus-Luyben). Hasil simulasi lintas tertutup menunjukkan kinerja pengendalian yang dapat diterima. Abstract The aim in an industrial bioprocess is commonly to maximize microbial growth and / or production of some compound produced by microorganisms. To achieve this in an efficient manner, it is necessary to maintain a suitable environment for the microorganisms at all times. The main objective of this research is to implement PI (Proportional Integral) and PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) control algorithm to the bioprocess system. The Bode criterion were then applied to check its stability followed by determining controller parameters using TLC method (Tyreus-Luyben). Closed loop simulation results were presented and it is found that TLC performance give acceptable results.

Abstrak Pada penelitian ini, penyetelan pengendali PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) dilakuk... more Abstrak Pada penelitian ini, penyetelan pengendali PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) dilakukan dengan metode optimasi dan hasil akhirnya dibandingkan dengan metode penyetelan lain (yaitu metode sintesa langsung dan Ziegler-Nichols). Tujuan penelitian adalah mendapatkan response output terbaik ketika terjadi perubahan set point dan terjadi gangguan. Penyetelan pengendali adalah proses yang berguna dalam menetapkan parameter pengendali yang dapat mempengaruhi response output dari perubahan setpoint (masalah servo) maupun ketika terjadi gangguan (masalah regulatori). Kinerja pengendali dapat dievaluasi dari harga SSE (Sum Squares of Error) ketika sistem dikendalikan oleh pengendali PID yang disetel dengan metode tertentu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode optimasi tampak lebih baik dari metode lainnya karena memberikan kinerja terbaik. Abstract In this research, PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) controller tuning was done using optimization method and the result was compared to the other well-known tuning methods (Direct synthesis, Ziegler– Nichols). The purpose of this research is to obtain the best output response when the set point and disturbance are changed. Tuning is a useful process to set the controller parameter that can affect the output response from the changing set point (servo problem) as well as from the disturbance (regulatory problem). The controller performance can be evaluated from the value of Sum Squares of Error when the system is controlled by PID controllers that is tuned with chosen method. The research result showed that optimization method was better than the other methods because it could give the best result.

Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk menyelidiki pengaruh rasio asam sulfat terhadap asam nitrat dalam produksi nitrobenzena menggunakan asam campuran. Nitrobenzena merupakan senyawa aromatik turunan benzena. Dalam proses industri, nitrobenzena merupakan bahan baku penting yang banyak digunakan untuk memproduksi anilina, n-fenil acetamide, kloronitrobenzena, dan berbagai pelarut. Anilina penting dalam pembuatan pestisida, obat-obatan, poliuretan, elastomer, katalis polimerisasi, dan dapat digunakan sebagai bahan bakar roket. Dalam penelitian ini, nitrasi benzena disimulasikan menggunakan Aspen Hysys. Simulasi ini dilakukan dengan kondisi operasi yang umum digunakan dalam industri. Dari simulasi ini, efek dari rasio asam sulfat terhadap asam nitrat pada konversi reaksi untuk berbagai suhu dapat dianalisis. Quadros, et al. (2005) memberikan data untuk energi aktivasi (E a) dan faktor frekuensi (k 0) sebagai fungsi dari fraksi massa asam sulfat (S). Data ini membuat simulasi dapat dilakukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi rasio asam sulfat terhadap asam nitrat tidak terlalu berpengaruh pada suhu 50 o C, tetapi cukup berpengaruh pada suhu yang lebih rendah.

A steady state model for cheese whey fermentation in two series of reactors has been developed. T... more A steady state model for cheese whey fermentation in two series of reactors has been developed. The model was derived based on mathematical and fundamental chemical engineering concept. The aim of this research is to develop the model for cheese whey fermentation in two series of reactors and to investigate the effect of hydraulic retention time on process performance. This research showed that the recommended values of hydraulic retention time for the second reactor decreased as the inlet substrate concentration increased. The results were 14, 7, and 2 h for 50, 100, and 150 g/l inlet substrate concentration. Another important result was the significant reduction of substrate and slightly higher values of ethanol concentration obtained by combining two reactors in series compared to the use of single reactor.
