It has been a rough two weeks for the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) inside the Deir Hafer Plains of east Aleppo, as the aforementioned terrorist group has lost approximately 30km of territory to the Syrian Armed Forces, leaving them in an unfavorable position in the days to come.
On Monday morning, ISIS attempted to counter the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) recent success in the Aleppo Governorate’s eastern countryside by attacking the latter at the recently captured village of Burayjah; however, the terrorist group’s assault proved unsuccessful, as the Syrian Armed Forces beat back all encroaching enemy combatants.
Following the failed ISIS attack, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Cheetah Forces” (Tiger Forces branch) – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions) – launched a counter-assault from their positions at Burayjah in order to recapture the western farms of Tal Sab’een after losing them to the terrorist group on Monday morning.
The Syrian Armed Forces not only captured the western farms, but also, the surrounding hills at the southwestern axis of Tal Sab’een; this forced ISIS to retreat further north, where they could regroup and counter the government forces.
For ISIS, they face a serious threat from the Syrian Armed Forces inside the Deir Hafer Plains due to SAA’s Central Command’s increased concentration on this imperative region in eastern Aleppo.
The primary objective for this offensive is to lift the brutal siege imposed by ISIS on the Kuweires Military Airport two years ago – they are currently less than 6km away from this airbase in the Aleppo Governorate.
