The National Park Service says biologists recently discovered the two mountain lion kittens in the Santa Monica Mountains west of Los Angeles. Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area biologist Jeff Sikich says the successful reproduction indicates the quality of the habitat is high for the relatively urbanized area.

Catch of the day: An osprey has been caught on camera flying off with a goldfish clasped tightly between its talons. The bird didnt cheekily dip into someones garden fish pond but actually snatched the fish from one of the city's municipal lakes. The ponds in Toronto, Ontario have been overrun by koi after people dump unwanted pets, or letting them go for religious reasons, according to the photographer.
