EuroSibEnergo (Russia)

EuroSibEnergo is the world’s largest private hydrogeneration company and the largest private power company in the Russian Federation. It manages 18 power plants with a combined installed energy capacity of 19.5 GW, including 15 GW provided by hydrogeneration.

The company produces about 9% of all electricity in Russia and is the leader in the Siberian energy market (market share of 41%). EuroSibEnergo’s key customers include the largest Russian aluminum plants.

The company has its own large fuel resources, which satisfy over 85% of the coal needs of its thermal power plants and boiler plants. EuroSibEnergo’s coal reserves amount to 1.26 billion tons, and annual coal production exceeds 12 million tons.

EuroSibEnergo employs over 25 thousand people. The company is dedicated to retaining its highly qualified and professional human resources. It established a Corporate University, which provides training to more than 10,000 employees every year.

An important component of EuroSibEnergo’s approach to business is social investment in the regions where the company has a presence. The company is actively involved in charity work and targeted assistance programs. The total amount of EuroSibEnergo’s social investment in 2014 exceeded 270 million rubles.

EuroSibEnergo is a vertically-integrated business:

  • it includes power generating, engineering, sales, coal-producing assets and utilities;
  • it combines enterprises located in Eastern Siberia, the Urals, Central Russia, and CIS countries;
  • it operates in full cycle mode: from coal supplies to the production of thermal power and electricity and delivery to consumers, as well as repairs and major overhauls of power industry facilities of any complexity.

EuroSibEnergo has the most extensive experience in Russia of privately managing power industry assets dating back to 2001. Implemented upgrade and cost-reduction programs enabled the company to achieve high asset management efficiency. The cost of power generation at its hydropower plants is lower than in other Russian HPPs, while fuel consumption per kilowatt-hour of electricity produced at the company’s thermal power plants is substantially below the average in Siberia.
