2016-2017 University-Approved Properties

First Year (Freshmen) and Second Year (Sophomore) students are not eligible to live in University-Approved Properties for 2016-2017.

At the request of a 2016-2017 Pre-Junior, Junior, or Senior Drexel student, a property owner/manager who operates a private residential facility in the 19104 zip code may submit an application for review to be designated as “University-Approved” for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Pre-Junior, Junior, and Senior students who choose to live in a University-Approved Property must contract with the property manager or owner directly and will be responsible for all applicable expenses, including but not limited to: deposits, damage fees, and cancellation fees. All expenses are paid directly to the property manager or owner by the student. Drexel University will not be a party to the individual lease agreement between the student and the property manager/owner and will in no way be required to perform any obligations under such agreement on the part of the student or the property manager/owner, or enforce any individual agreement on behalf of the student or the property manager/ owner.

University-Approved Property status is granted to those properties as to which the individual property owner has certified to Drexel University that the property is fully compliant with all relevant “Legal Requirements” and other conditions as more fully set forth in the Application for University-Approved Property Status. Importantly, Approved Property status requires resubmission of an application and accompanying materials on an annual basis. Drexel University does not specifically endorse any one property over another. Drexel University independently reviews documents and provided materials of such properties, for purposes of verification of the information contained in the Application or the granting of University-Approved housing status.

UNIVERSITY-APPROVED PROPERTY

APPLICATION REQUEST PROCESS

At the request of a 2016-2017 Pre-Junior, Junior, or Senior Drexel student, a property owner/manager who operates a private residential facility in the 19104 zip code may submit an application for review to be designated as “University-Approved” for the 2016-2017 academic year.

A property owner/manager must complete and submit the application, meet the standards identified therein, and provide all required documentation by August 1, 2016, in order for the property to be considered for Approved Property status for the 2016-2017 academic year.

The University-Approved Property Application process is provided below.

  1. Beginning February 1, 2016, Pre-Junior, Junior, and Senior Drexel students may submit a University-Approved Property Application Request Form found within MyHousing via DrexelOne.  This form will require students to provide Property owner/manager contact information (i.e., Property mailing address and phone number). Submitting a request will prompt University Housing to deliver via post mail the University-Approved Property Application to the Property Owner/Manager. Property owners/managers will not be able to receive an application without a student request. University Housing will send the application to the Property owner/manager within three (3) business days after a request is submitted.
  2. Once the Property owner/manager returns a completed application and associated documents to the University Housing Office, the application will be reviewed and responded to within three (3) business days. Within MyHousing in DrexelOne, students may select “Pending Applications for 2016-17 University-Approved Property Status” for an update on an application’s current status in the approval process.
  3. If the property application is complete and approved, the property will be listed in the “2016-17 University-Approved Property Listing” in MyHousing via DrexelOne.

Students may view Properties that have University-Approved Property status for 2016-17, by logging into MyHousing via DrexelOne and selecting the “2016-17 University-Approved Property Listing”.
