The JSTOR archival collections contain the back issues of more than 1,500 scholarly journals across 50 disciplines that span 500 years. JSTOR works with a diverse group of nearly 900 publishers from over 25 countries to preserve and make their content digitally available. JOURNAL SELECTION CRITERIA JSTOR develops the archival collections by inviting selected publications. Publishers license their content to JSTOR to digitize. These publications are then licensed to libraries around the word by multidisciplinary and discipline-specific collections, clusters of journals grouped by disciplines. This approach is driven by the need to establish priorities among the vast number of journals published around the world and to devote limited resources to those journals that most closely fit our mission. Some criteria that we consider are historical significance of the title, citation analysis, and relevance to a scholarly audience.
