Ram Madhvani's Neerja, which casts Sonam Kapoor in the titular role, documents the story of Neerja Bhanot, who was killed in the 1986 hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi. "It's very unfortunate. Because they haven't let the film reach the censor board for it to be approved or disapproved. They haven't even given us that leeway. I hope people around the world watch the film, and realize that we have treated everyone fairly. In fact, we have shown Pakistan in great light," said Sonam
Actor Arjun Kapoor said that he is scared of losing out on his loved ones, both on screen and in real life, and added that it is one of the reasons he is hesitant to watch Sonam Kapoor's Neerja. The Gunday star made the revelation in a video shared on Twitter
The film that most movie goers seem to be looking forward to is the Ram Madhvani-directed biopic Neerja, based on the life of Neerja Bhanot, the stewardess who died while saving lives on the hijacked plane Pan Am Clipper 73. Neerja stars actress Sonam Kapoor in the titular role
Sonam Kapoor's Neerja will not release in Pakistan and the actress is 'extremely disheartened.' Sonam, who plays the titular role of slain stewardess Neerja Bhanot in the movie, wrote on Twitter: "She saved Pakistani lives, and I can guarantee that Pakistan hasn't been shown in a poor light, I really hope and pray Neerja releases."
In an exclusive interview to NDTV, Sonam Kapoor, who plays protagonist Neerja Bhanot in her biopic, said that: "Bravery is when you act in the face of fear. What am I doing? I am actually acting it out in Neerja. It's not actually me going through the process of what she went through." Neerja will hit screens on February 19.
When Sonam Kapoor learnt that she has been zeroed in to play the protagonist in Neerja, she wondered: "Why don't I know about Neerja Bhanot? Why doesn't my generation know about her?" She continued: "Because hers is an inspirational story. She was an ordinary girl, who became extraordinary because of the qualities that she had."
