On Monday, March 14, all main store members of the American Booksellers Association were sent an e-mail from CEO Oren Teicher that included a link to the ballot for the 2016 Board of Directors elections and biographical information on each of the candidates for four director positions on the Board.

One person per ABA Member ID number may vote, and a BookWeb login and the store ID number are required. All voting is being conducted electronically, and ballots are due by midnight EDT on April 12. Ballots submitted after that will not be counted.

Booksellers nominated by the ABA Board to serve as directors for three-year terms (20162019) are Kris Kleindienst of Left Bank Books in St. Louis, Missouri; Chris Morrow of Northshire Bookstore in Manchester Center, Vermont, and Saratoga Springs, New York; Annie Philbrick of Bank Square Books in Mystic, Connecticut, and Savoy Bookshop & Café in Westerly, Rhode Island; and Robert Sindelar of Third Place Books, with two locations in the Seattle, Washington area and a third scheduled to open in spring 2016. Philbrick and Sindelar are currently on the Board and both are eligible for a second three-year term.

The ballot also includes space for write-in candidates.

The election results will be announced on April 13, and the new Board members will be welcomed at the ABA Annual Membership Meeting to be held on Thursday, May 12, from 4:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. at Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center in conjunction with BookExpo America. The Membership Meeting will be preceded by ABA’s Town Hall meeting from 3:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.

Main store members that did not receive the March 14 e-mail, and those that need their ID number to vote, should contact ABA Member Relationship managers Nathan Halter (for the NCIBA, SCIBA, MPIBA, PNBA, SIBA regions) at (800) 637-0037, ext. 7514, or Catherine Cusick (for NAIBA, NEIBA, GLIBA, MIBA) at (800) 637-0037, ext. 7566.
