SCOAP3

What is SCOAP3

SCOAP3 is a partnership of thousands of libraries, agencies and research centres in twenty-four countries, working together with publishers to provide open access to High-Energy Physics journals without author fees.

SCOAP3 is a global initiative co-ordinated and supported by CERN and the participating partner countries.  You can view the SCOAP3 official website for general information about the initiative.

Jisc Collections' role

Jisc Collections' role in the SCOAP3 initiative concerns representing the UK participating institutions on the governing council, organising the UK HEI payment process and managing a closed email list.

Jisc Collections signed the Memorandum of Understanding with CERN to participate in SCOAP3 Phase 1 from January 2014 to December 2016 as the Co-ordination Centre for the UK.

Plans are now in process for SCOAP3 Phase 2 for the period 1st January 2017 to 31st December 2019.  The role of Jisc Collections will continue.

If you require further details about the SCOAP3 initiative please contact Carolyn Alderson, Deputy Director at Jisc Collections.
