Membership Levels

Associates of the Omohundro Institute support its role in encouraging and advancing the study of early America by making annual contributions to the Institute. These gifts sustain the Institute’s programs at the high level of scholarly excellence that is its hallmark and enable the Institute to respond creatively to new opportunities that invigorate the early American field. Seven levels of membership are available.


  • Student ($25; $35 with JSTOR option) Students receive the benefits listed under Regular membership.
  • Regular ($75–99) Members receive the William and Mary Quarterly, a 20 percent discount on Institute books as well as any book published by UNC Press, and invitations to Institute seminars and conferences.
  • Supporting ($100–249) Supporting Associates have the option of logging onto JSTOR for full access to the William and Mary Quarterly. They also receive all Regular membership benefits and may choose to receive a recent Institute book in appreciation for their gift.
  • Sustaining ($250–499) Along with Regular membership benefits, Sustaining Associates may select up to two Institute books in recognition of their support and may choose the option of full access to the William and Mary Quarterly on JSTOR.
  • Conserving ($500–999) Along with Regular membership benefits, Conserving Associates may select up to three Institute books in recognition of their support and may choose the option of full access to the William and Mary Quarterly on JSTOR.
  • Patron ($1,000–4,999) Patrons have the option to receive copies of all Institute books published during the year, as well as the Regular membership benefits, and may choose the option of full access to the William and Mary Quarterly on JSTOR.
  • Benefactor ($5,000+) Benefactors have the option to receive copies of all Institute books published during the year, as well as the Regular membership benefits, may choose the option of full access to the William and Mary Quarterly on JSTOR, and are invited to special events hosted by the Institute.

Federal law requires that the tax deduction for a charitable contribution be reduced by the fair market value of benefits received. The value of a William and Mary Quarterly subscription is $40. The value of the JSTOR option is $50. For fair market value of books, see current price list.
