Your AFL club’s most famous supporters, from Barack Obama to Cam Newton

CAM Newton’s Carolina Panthers booked their spot in Super Bowl 50 last week, defeating the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship game.

And, according to Richmond, a pre-season venture to Tigerland might have helped Newton on his way.

Tigers midfielder Brett Deledio tweeted “no coincidence” with a photo of Newton at Richmond training in the immediate aftermath of Carolina’s victory as the club’s own official account also made the most of his success.

Richmond was at it again a few days later following Triple J’s Hottest 100 count. Major Lazer’s Lean On was voted third in the count, leading to the Tigers tweeting a photo of group member ‘Diplo’ wearing a Richmond jumper on stage during a show in Melbourne.

In the wake of the success from famous Tiger fans, we look at your club’s most popular supporters — both locally and abroad.
