Chomsky

Prelude and Variations

Chomsky

Prelude and Variations

for harpsichord and piano

A composition commissioned for the awarding of the Carl-von-Ossietzky Prize for contemporary history and politics by the town of Oldenburg to Professor Noam Chomsky and premiered on the 23rd of May, 2004 in Oldenburg.

Excerpt from the Preface of the Composer

The basic idea of having traditional values on the one hand interplay with futuristic notions on the other is reflected in this interlacing of old and new musical-aesthetic formative principles. This gives rise to a contemporary work combining tradition with modernity and meant to contribute positively to the awarding of the Carl-von-Ossietzky prize to Noam Chomsky.
