Cristina Fernandez challenged to show her law degree and Timerman described as a 'traitor'

A colloquium sponsored by an Argentine business grouping, IDEA, that has been critical of the government of Cristina Fernandez, but in a framework of moderation and self containment, turned into a students' open assembly when a constitutional law professor gave a speech on the rule of the law, called on President Cristina Fernandez to show her law degree and described minister Hector Timerman as a 'traitor' of the essence of Judaism for having reached an agreement with Iran.

“I demand that president Cristina Fernandez shows us her solicitor's degree, because she is a complete ignorant of law” said Professor Daniel Sabsay

“I'm ashamed of the foreign minister we have. He is a traitor” said the professor to an auditorium packed with business people

“I demand that president Cristina Fernandez shows us her solicitor's degree, because she is a complete ignorant of law” said professor Daniel Sabsay who strongly criticized the government's project to reform the criminal processing code and the plan to expel from Argentina foreigners involved in criminal actions.

“That is the most reactionary of initiatives in criminal law, expelling foreign culprits; they will only keep breaking the law”, said Sabsay to the applause of the auditorium, when he defied Cristina Fernandez to show her law degree.

Sabsay then went after Attorney general Alejandra Gils Carbó who he accused of being an instrument of the Executive “with the only purpose of covering up the presidential interests; she's not attorney general she's a 'cover up' official.”

”The job of an Attorney general is to defend the State, not defend Lazaro Baez (a business associate of the Kirchner family). They even tried to lower the salary of a widower in charge of children (in reference to prosecutor Jose Maria Campagnoli who was investigating Baez and was removed from the post)“. Sabsay underlined ”this is not a democracy, this is an authoritarian regime“.

The constitutional law professor then proposed that political parties looking ahead, agree on ”public policies, rule of the law, put an end to impunity, reestablish freedom of expression and abolish cronies' capitalism“.

”Let's face it: we're fed up with a presidential couple; now they want us to forcebly accept their son (Maximo), enough is enough“ insisted Sabsay, who then went on to bash foreign minister Timerman, whom he described as a 'traitor'.

”I'm ashamed of the foreign minister we have. He is a traitor. In July he went to discuss with Ahmadinejad (former Iranian president), a man who denies the Holocaust. I feel ashamed, the minister is undeserving, a rogue. We suffered millions of dead and this guy denies that, and I'm saying this as a Jew, and Timerman a Jew reached a memorandum of understanding with him”.

Before walking down from the stage there was a several minutes standing ovation and applause for Sabsay. Definitively something unseen in the long Kirchner decade for a business organization that has treaded gently, criticizing but avoiding confrontation and irking the Lady.

The gov't is falling apart, you can't run Argentina without a strong Prez, this kind of outburst shows that people aren't afraid of her any longer.
I've never thought she'd make it through her term.

I am sure Maximo will be knocking up a fake certificate on the computer for his Mama.

Why do Argentine trolls object to people commenting on an English language message board that is here for that exact reason; for us to comment on the news stories posted here? If they can't take the criticism maybe they should not read the comments.

Unless he is able to reference history correctly, this man would be a danger to the Falkland Islands, unless he would be sensible enough to talk with them, get trade and therefore make money out of them.

For Argentina's sake this sounds like a guy that could face up to their problems and sort them out.
Though of course a more successful Argentina is less likely to use the Falklands a s a diversion for their own failure, and perhaps the guy will even see sense.

Of course he may not be a danger to the Islanders if he can tear himself away from the flawed mantra that ignores history and UN regulations, he may not be a danger.

One thing's for sure, he would not make Argentina such a joke as they are now, and for him the thought of the world champion salad dodger taking over his country must be abhorrent, as Argentina would need plane loads of food aid just to feed Maximo.

Still, if Maximo got power it would ensure the Falkland Islands press on with a bright future.

Glad to see he told Gollum like it is and it will be interesting to see if the 'law degree' appears.

Why don't you debate with Enrique paulie?

Have you ever read the requirement at the top of this COMMENTS section - Comments must be in English? But we're not really bothered if statements are intended for the public gallery. It's what Kirchner, Timerman and all the rest do. Haven't yet found an argie politician, minister, government employee or troll that ever tells the truth. Methinks you protest too much.
@29. What are you trying to say? Obama was born in Honolulu! Two years after Hawaii became the 50th state of the Union. Wouldn't bother about it, Enrique. We're well aware that the argie population doesn't have enough attention span to remember what it did yesterday. If they did, Peronism would be OUT. The people would remember what a crook Kirchner (deceased) was. Anyone found that million US dollars nicked from Santa Cruz yet? And that Kirchner (slut) is doing even better. 16 million dollars she's thieved so far, right? And how much has the fat slob had? Timerman and Puricelli have both wanted to start wars. The joke is that they wanted to start wars with the nation that was victorious in '82 and is now better equipped. Couldn't launch those 200 cruise missiles from submarines in '82. Or the air-launched Storm Shadow. A Typhoon can carry 4 of those. Such a useless, incompetent 'country'. How's the debt going?

Chico I respectfully disagree:

A countries executive is “supposed” to serve the public, we we are both correct.

Billionaire or millionaire remains to be a bone of contention. One thing is certain she has more than her declared assets.

As for Obama and Hawaii, even IF he was not born there and I find that hard to swallow. Knowing how my government work, though I cannot speak for the Hawaiian government, keeping a secret only works if one person knows it and he is dead.

Art II sec 1 defines the qualifications of the President and Vice President. The primary being a “Natural Born Citizen” which is defined as ”citizen rights at birth.....and nt defined as location of birth. Senator Cruz was born in Alberta, Canada to a father of a Cuban born and a mother born in Delaware, USA. He is a natural born citizen, just as children born to parents in the military are natural born USA citizens. I choke at the thought but Cruz can run legally for president. So even if Obama (and this in no way supports his policies) was not born in Hawaii, but he was born on Africa or even bum fuck Egypt.....his mother was born in Kansas. But there remains a group of Americans who believe otherwise. I am not one of them........nor do I believe in any of those conspiracy theories.

Back on point.......I really give two pieces of feces about Kirchner because she is not my nightmare.....but I would love to see her response.

PS

My condolences to Brazil.....probably better because she will be sailing through a perfect economic storm and she will be at the helm.

Just for the general information, this is Professor Sabsay's opinion of the Falklands claim:
Leading Argentine constitutional lawyer Daniel Sabsay is one of several thousand signatories to an open letter which calls for Argentina to consider the rights and opinions of the Falkland Islanders.
He believes the government's sudden interest in the Falklands is a deliberate distraction from Argentina's increasing problems at home. “This conflict is a mask, something that is useful to hide other problems we have.”
