Our estates strategy outlines a 10-year investment plan to refurbish, upgrade and develop our facilities to support the experience of our students, staff and our communities. The Pittville Student Village project forms an important part of this strategy and is a crucial part of ensuring the long-term future of the university.

Since Cheltenham Borough Council Planning Committee’s decision to defer our application in January, we have been extremely busy addressing the issues raised by the committee and the public, particularly relating to design and operational management. This has been done in close consultation with local representatives and Planning Officers. Along with our partners Uliving, new architects from the Bath office of Feilden Clegg Bradley (FCB) were appointed to take a fresh look and review the design of the scheme.  FCB have developed some substantially revised proposals, which they have presented to Planning Officers, Cheltenham Borough Council Architects Panel and the Civic Society.

The application was approved by the committee in July 2015, and the student village is expected to be ready by September 2017.
