Saudi Arabia’s new King has carried out a Cabinet reshuffle and reorganised the government. The new Council of Ministers has 31 members.
The Ministers of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Labour, Commerce, Transport, Economy and Planning retained their posts. New ministers of Defence, Agriculture, Education and Information were appointed.

- Merged the Education Ministry and Higher Education Ministry
- Abolished the Supreme Council for Petroleum and Minerals Affairs
- Abolished the following bodies; Higher Committee for Education Policy; Higher Committee for Administrative Organization; Civil Service Council; Higher Commission of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology; Council of Higher Education and Universities; Supreme Council for Education; Supreme Council for Petroleum and Minerals; Supreme Economic Council; National Security Council; Supreme Council of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy; Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the Supreme Council for Disabled Affairs
- Established two new Councils linked to the Council of Ministers; Council of Political and Security Affairs and Council of Economic and Development Affairs.
