Beijing was home to the headquarters of 52 companies on the Fortune Global 500 list in 2015, the largest number of any city in the world, Beijing Daily reported.

They have become an important driving force for the city's economic development.

So far, more than 7,000 large businesses, including SOEs, large private companies and foreign-funded multinationals, have established their headquarters in the city.

They account for less than six percent ofthe total number of businesses in Beijing, but create more than 50 percent of the city's GDP and taxes.
