Directions to Georgetown

Main Campus and Medical Center

Georgetown University’s Main Campus is located at 3700 O St., N.W., Washington D.C. ,with the Georgetown University Medical Center located close by at 4000 Reservoir Road, N.W. Driving directions below are for the Main Campus garage off of Canal St. NW. Street parking is available but limited and restricted.

By Car

From Baltimore and Points North

Follow I-95 South and exit onto 495 West (Capital Beltway). Continue on 495 to George Washington Memorial Parkway. Follow the parkway toward Washington, D.C., and exit onto Key Bridge. Cross Key Bridge and turn left onto M Street. Go through one light and turn right into Georgetown University. Follow signs to visitor parking.

From Richmond and Points South

Follow I-95 North to 395 to Route 27 (Washington Boulevard.) Once on Route 27, carefully watch for signs that lead you through Rosslyn to the Key Bridge. Follow the signs and cross Key Bridge, then turn left onto M Street. Go through one light and turn right into Georgetown University. Follow signs to visitor parking.

From Pittsburgh and Points West

Follow the Pennsylvania Turnpike East to Exit 12 (Breezewood.) Follow I-70 South to Frederick, where 270 South begins and continue on 270 South toward Washington, D.C. When 270 South intersects with 495 (Capital Beltway), keep right and follow 495 toward Northern Virginia. Continue on 495 to George Washington Memorial Parkway. Follow the parkway toward Washington and exit onto Key Bridge. Cross Key Bridge and turn left onto M Street. Go through one light and turn right into Georgetown University. Follow signs to visitor parking.

From Dulles International Airport

Taxi

Ask the taxi driver to take you to Georgetown University at 37th and O Streets, N.W., Washington, D.C. The ride to Georgetown is a long one, so expect to pay $60 or more.

Rental Car Directions

Leave the airport using the Dulles Access Road (the only road out of the airport.) Stay on the Access Road - do not take any exits. After approximately 20 miles you will pass signs for I-495. Stay on the Access Road, which eventually will take you to I-66 Eastbound. You will know you have reached I-66 when you make a looping left turn over a freeway and enter traffic from the right side of the roadway. Stay on I-66 until you see a sign for Key Bridge and The Newseum. The exit for the bridge will be on your right. Take the exit, continue through two lights, then move into the left-hand lane. At the third light, turn left and move to the center lanes. Go across the bridge and move into the left lanes. The Key Bridge dead ends at M Street. Turn left onto M Street, go through one light and turn right into Georgetown University. Follow signs to visitor parking.

From Reagan National Airport

Public Transportation

In the airport terminal look for signs indicating the direction to the MetroRail. Take the blue line Metro to Rosslyn. Get off at Rosslyn, go to the top of the escalator stairs, make a U-turn and walk out to the street. Turn to your left and walk up the sidewalk until you are at the corner of 19th and Moore Streets. You will see a blue bus stop sign that says GU transportation shuttle (GUTS). Wait for the Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS) bus. The shuttle will give you a free ride to the University and will let you off in the heart of campus at the Leavey Center. Please note that the GUTS bus does not run on Saturday mornings or on Sunday.

Taxi

Tell the taxi driver you want to go to Georgetown University. Expect to pay at least $15. You are crossing from one state into another and the fees are higher because of this.

Rental Car

Ask your rental car company's staff for directions to the Key Bridge in Rosslyn. Since there are many rental car locations, we are unable to provide specific directions from each one here. Once you get to the Key Bridge, cross Key Bridge and turn left onto M Street. Go through one light. Turn right into Georgetown University. Follow signs to visitor parking.

From Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI)

Taxi

Tell the taxi driver you want to go to Georgetown University. Expect to pay at least $95. You are crossing from one state into another and the fees are higher because of this.

Public Transportation

You can take a shuttle bus from the airport to the MARC train station.  The ride to Union Station will cost $5. Amtrak trains travel frequently from BWI to Union Station. MARC trains run Monday through Friday. Please visit the website for train schedules. 

Take the B30 Express Metrobus to Greenbelt Metro station, and arrive at Rosslyn station by subway. The bus costs $3. From Rosslyn, take a taxi or the Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS) bus to the University. Please note that the GUTS bus does not run on Saturday mornings or on Sunday.

Rental Car

Exit the airport taking I-195 West. Follow I-95 South and exit onto 495 West (Capital Beltway). Continue on 495 to George Washington Memorial Parkway. Follow the parkway toward Washington, D.C., and exit onto Key Bridge. Cross Key Bridge and turn left onto M Street. Go through one light and turn right into Georgetown University. Follow signs to visitor parking.

Georgetown University Law Center

The Law Center is located near Union Station and Capitol Hill at 600 New Jersey Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. There is a shuttle bus providing frequent service to and from the Main Campus. The Gewirz Student Center faces McDonough Hall (the main Law Center building) and is located at 120 F Street, N.W.

Parking is very limited around the Law Center, but there is a parking garage across the street from the Law Center at 601 New Jersey Avenue, N.W. Parking there costs $13 per day. There is also some metered parking available around the Law Center.

By Car

From Baltimore and Points North

Follow I-95 South.  At the I-495 Junction, follow the signs toward 95 South to Richmond.  Take the Baltimore-Washington Parkway/ I-295 exit (west).  Take the Baltimore Washington Parkway to US 50 (New York Avenue).  Follow 50 heading west into Washington, DC.  Make a left onto North Capitol Street, then make a right onto Massachusetts Avenue.  Before the next light, make a left on New Jersey Avenue, and immediately bear right on First Street.  The main Law Center building, McDonough Hall, will be on your right.

From Richmond and Points South

Follow I-95 North.  At the I-495 junction, 95 will turn into 395.  Follow 395 North to Washington, DC.  Cross the 14th street bridge and keep to the right.  Continue following signs for 395 North and take the D Street/ US Senate exit.  Continue following the signs for 395 North and continue into the D street tunnel (stay in the far right lane).  In the tunnel, take the D Street exit and make a right at the first traffic light.  Turn left onto New Jersey Avenue, and the Law Center will be on your left hand side.

From Charlottesville and Points South and West

I-66 East to Washington.  Cross the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge and follow signs for Constitution Avenue.  Take Constitution Avenue until it ends.  Make a left onto Louisiana Avenue, and then make a left onto New Jersey Avenue.  The Law Center will be on your left.

From Fredericksburg and Points North and West

Follow I-270 south. Where 270 divides, follow the signs to 495 East toward Silver Spring.  Take the Baltimore Washington Parkway to U.S. 50 (New York Avenue). Follow 50 heading west into Washington, DC. Make a left onto North Capitol Street, then a right onto Massachusetts Avenue.  Before the next light, make a left on New Jersey Avenue, and immediately bear right onto First Street. The main Law Center building, McDonough Hall, will be on your right.

From Reagan National Airport

By taxi, travel time to the Law Center is about 15 minutes, and the fare is approximately $15. Be sure to tell the driver that you are going to the Law Center, not the main undergraduate campus.

By Metro, allow approximately 30 minutes. The Metro station is located across the street from the main terminal at National Airport.  Take the Yellow Line to Gallery Place. When you arrive at Gallery Place, transfer to the Red Line (in the direction of Glenmont) and get off at Union Station. Then follow the directions above.

From Baltimore Washington Airport (BWI) and Dulles International Airport (IAD)

A taxi from BWI costs approximately $80, however, you can take a shuttle bus from the airport to the MARC train station.  The ride to Union Station will cost $5. 

A taxi from Dulles to the Law Center also costs about $50, but you may also take the Washington Flyer bus to the West Falls Church Metro Station.  Take the Orange Line (toward New Carrolton) and transfer at Metro Center to the Red Line (toward Glenmont). Exit the Red Line at Union Station and follow the directions above.
