Visual and Performing Arts

In both visual and performing arts, our focus is on development of the imagination and creative thinking processes, which are integral to Georgetown’s liberal arts education and Jesuit tradition of educating the whole person.

Our unique theater curriculum reflects the political and international character of Georgetown, a commitment to social justice and a focus on adapting, devising and developing new work.

Our music program is distinctive for its emphasis on the study of the performing arts as both a creative activity within contemporary society and a cultural manifestation of multiculturalism in the United States. We specialize in all forms of music associated with American culture, including jazz, rock, dance and film.

Courses in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art and photography allow students to create their own forms of expression. Art history and museum studies students take advantage of the many prestigious museums in the area, focusing on a range of historical periods, cultures and media, as well as different methods of study.
